Description
Bungalow transformation
A tired 1950s bungalow reimagined as a bright, energy-efficient forever home.
Our clients wanted to downsize without compromising on space for family life, so we transformed this 94sqm bungalow into a carefully planned 131sqm home. By replacing the existing side garage with a brick-clad extension, we created three bedrooms while maintaining generous, flexible living spaces.
The heart of the home is a light-filled kitchen and dining space opening onto the rear patio, offering a choice of places to gather—from the kitchen island and dining table to a window seat overlooking the garden. A separate living room also opens directly onto the patio, creating a quieter space while maintaining a strong connection to the garden.
The result is a home that feels both spacious and manageable, with its BER improved from F to A1.

Client Comments:
Having bought a 1950’s bungalow that had been completely untouched, we were keen to find an architect who would have the vision and expertise to bring it up to todays standards. After some research we chose Cameron Lee and were not disappointed…
He has great experience in this type of deep retrofit andlistened carefully to our brief. Importantly he managed our expectations with regard to budget and our ‘wish list’ (not an easy task!)
From the planning applications to dealing with the various grants available he was extremely knowledgeable and efficient. Cameron’s calm and patient personality is exactly what’s needed ,and indeed, in what could have been a stressful build, actually ended up being an enjoyable experience.
He was always available to answer queries or concerns which was very reassuring, and if there were any issues they were dealt with promptly. The trades he brought with him were all excellent .
Most importantly we came in on budget and time!!!
What we have now is a warm, bright, comfortable and really well designed home that we are very happy with.
Thank you so much Cameron
